I can't believe I'm writing this again! In the past (as in one month and one day ago, exactly!) I might have been more bitter about the first post getting erased, but I really think I've become a lot more comfortable/used to kind of bad things randomly happening, and then just dealing with it and moving on. Like rain and wind and unpredictable internet breakdowns. Oh, Europe!
I felt a little strange leaving the Madrid airport. I really had some emotional times there-. From arriving… Continue

I've got a big mug of tea and an entire Saturday afternoon to finish this sucker. Hoorah!
I was surprised by a lot of things in Spain. I think I was expecting a lot more anti-Americanism from Europe as a whole, but people generally seemed to like me and show me just as much respect as anyone else. Maybe because I spoke some Spanish and said I knew Micheal Phelps when they asked me? I was really grateful for their support when I stumbled through Spanish grammar; they were very… Continue

Hello! I'm going to write more about my trip to Spain and Portugal.
So. After Tarifa we hit Portugal. On our way to Lagos, we stopped at the city of Jerez for some wine tasting! Though it was great to see the wine cellars and learn about the process of creating wine, I have to admit that the sangria and mojitos (and even the worst spanish beer) tasted better than Tio Pepe sherry and wine. Still, we got to learn quite a bit about Tio Pepe, see some of the 4000 bottles of sherry and… Continue

Many of you Baltimoreans may be wondering how I've been able to get on these past few weeks without performing one of my frequent rituals: using the computer while in bed.
It was difficult in those internet cafes, being forced to sit at 90 degree angles while I typed without a single pillow, stuffed animal, or heating pad :(. But I made it through, and am happy to announce that today I have received internet in my OWN BEDROOM! I think my computer and mattress go quite well together...all I… Continue

My first week in Edinburgh has been an amazing blur. I've gotten a chance the last few days to really get to know the city. My flat is on the Cowgate which is a street that is right in the center of the city--I couldn't have asked for a better location! I have a great view out of my window and I have 3 other roommates (one is from Ireland--but lives in Scotland--France and the other is from Connecticut).
There are so many cute, quirky stores, pubs and streets I feel… Continue

I found myself wondering at dinner tonight. I realized that Sunday and Monday have meshed together into one day. Apparently, overnight airport adventures can warp time.
Hasta luego, Spain! Yes, that is a form of goodbye- but it means, "See you later." Which, hopefully, | will. There is so much I didn't get to see. Now that I've been to Madrid, I want to see how it compares to Barcelona. And how Barcelona compares to Salamanca. And how those two compare to Cordoba...

So I have arrived in Edinburgh! I've been here for about 3 days so far and we just finished orientation. We've been staying in a hotel for the past 3 days and I move into my flat tomorrow morning. Then we have Freshers Week which is basically the University of Edinburgh orientation (most of which I'll skip because we covered it all in Butler's orientation). The scenery here is incredible. I'm already completely in love with the city--the views are incredible--the Royal… Continue

well this is going to be short one. the internet cafes in portugal cost a euro for 15 minutes so iºll have to catch up some other time soon, hopefully! yesterday we drove 8 hours from tarifa to lagos. i was unaware spain could be so beach-y...i feel like iºm in miami or mexico, but with better ice cream!
in lagos everyone speaks english. then again, weºre in a very touristy town right now, so there are a LOT of aussies and englishmen in the streets. iºve had a lot of fun interacting with… Continue

I can´t believe I´ve seen so much Spain in so little time!
Right now we´re in Tarifa. It´s on the tip of southern Spain- today I saw the coast of Africa!
Anyways, I´m getting ahead of myself. It´s been hard to access the internet regularly, as we have to find internet cafes as well as convince myself to sit and stare at a screen rather than go see Spain! But it´s always worthwhile-thanks to everyone for your emails, posts, and messages. It´s really nice to hear from yáll! And I… Continue

I think I´m moving to Spain. Granted, it´s only been 12 hours since I´ve been here, but so far everything here has been just great. Then again, the past day was spent in terminals 1 and 3 of the Toronto airport, so it couldn´t really go anywhere other than up :) I´ll skip the many mini-dramas and experiences of my lengthy stay in the Toronto airport and get right to Espana.
Well. Unfortunately I don´t have much of a grip on the city yet, so today was mostly just walking around and… Continue

Hello everyone, this is my blog. Right now my life isn't very interesting. For example, today I had a dentist appointment. Apparently I had some plaque buildup behind my lower front teeth.
To be continued in early September...
