I brought a voice recorder, but only used it for the first week. I found that I really didn't have time to listen to the lectures again. Unless you are taking really hard classes, I think you will be fine without one. The first few weeks you will probably feel like you don't understand anything, but usually spanish comprehension improves pretty fast. I would be willing to loan you my voice recorder, if you want.
