Volunteer Abroad

Studying abroad with IFSA-Butler isn't just taking notes in the classroom. It's about learning to be a global citizen! IFSA-Butler students volunteer to gain greater context about where they're studying and give back to their host country

From replanting trees in Costa Rica's temperate forest, to playing basketball with kids at a Mexican orphanage, to teaching English to underprivileged Chileans, our staff facilitates volunteer placements on the ground according to interest, background, and time commitment.

Hi Tanya! We currently do not have a volunteer option in London. However, I encourage you to talk your program advisor or your resident director and they may be able to give you some other opportunities. Thanks!

Hello Angie,

The United Kingdom has a very different set of rules in order to participate in an internship or volunteer program. Students wanting to volunteer or participate in an internship abroad must receive a visa before they leave the US. IFSA-Butler will send information out about obtaining visas later this spring.

Lancaster does not offer any internship programs largely related to their location which is not conveniently located near a capital city.

Students can participate in volunteer projects within the university through the Student Union but these or not formal projects and will depend on what the student union chooses to organize each year.

More information on the Lancaster student union can be found at the below link:http://www.lancs.ac.uk/studentlife/index.htm

Cheers, Jenny

Here you have an example of the type of work you can do in Peru with your "community based research project"
