does anyone know if we move in right away to our dorms, or if we have to wait?

One more week!!! Does everyone know what classes they will be taking?

If anyone has any of those silly questions they think they can't ask, I'd be happy to help. I was at Queen Mary in spring of 2010 so if you have any questions about Queen Mary specifically, traveling abroad, or what to bring...I'm here for the real student's answer. :) You can write a question here or message me if need to. 20 days til you depart!!!

Atty, I haven't received confirmation on my classes that I sent to Queen Mary...so I guess you could say I'm having trouble getting into my classes as well! I'm just hoping it all works out honestly. "/

Hopefully Kristy will get you a list of classes you're enrolled in based on the ones you requested before you leave but you might not get them until you get to London. The add/drop process is harder or easier depending on the course of study. English and Theatre are packed full so more than likely no switching but other majors have more availability than those. During your QMUL orientation, department heads will tell you what they have available and then you'll meet with them to switch. Its not the best but its do-able.

As far as what you'll do when you first get into London before your QMUL orientation is basic London orientation with IFSA at a hotel downtown. They should be sending you info on the hotel (for people who may have to get there on their own) and you can look it up online to see where it is and all that. During that orientation you'll get basic London info, possibly see a show, learn about the services IFSA has to offer, safety and security in a new city, a politics seminar, basically everything you need to know. You'll also be a stone's throw from cell phone places and drug stores so anything you didn't bring with you, you can get during some of that down time.

Is anyone else having issues with registering for classes? I know nothing is final till we get there and physically sign up. For folks who have been, is it easy to switch during add/drop?

And to Carey, IFSA-Butler has us set up in a hotel until we move in to QMUL.

Hey this may sound stupid but where are we going for the first few days we're there? I know orientation starts the 20th, but I'm a little confused

You definitely get a week in the middle...they call it reading week at QMUL. It is the week of November 8th. I would strongly recommend using that week to do some travelling...just make sure you get anything due the next week finished before you leave. It will make it less stressful to be away if your plane/train may run late or something like that.
