If anyone is planning on going to JCU townsville semester 2 of this year, it would be nice to talk and get to know people before we head over there!

Hello all! If you're not quite sure where you want to live in Townsville, take a look at this handy Google Map:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&ll=-...

Each of the residential colleges is marked on the map, along with the main JCU library and the International Student Centre. Zoom out on the map to get a sense of how close you are to downtown Townsville and the beach.

Do you have any suggestions or know the difference between the dorm residences on the JCU Townsville campus?

Yes, those are WILD WALLABIES on the James Cook University campus!

On my visit to Townsville in April, I met with several people in the International Students office, toured one of the housing units, and took a nice drive around campus. Of course, I got so excited about the wallabies that my JCU tour guide had to stop the car so I could take pictures!

James Cook University is set a little way outside of town, so students live in residential colleges on a self-contained campus. It's easy to hop on one of the frequent buses to visit the shops and restaurants (and beaches!) of Townsville. With about 9,000 students on campus, you'll have plenty of opportunities to make friends and join clubs. And if you've ever wanted to feed a wallaby or hold a koala, plan to check out the Billabong Sanctuary outside of town. The highlight of my trip was holding Crash the koala, as you can see in my profile picture. He's heavier than he looks!
