Hi Tanya

I manage the study abroad program at UCL. I am really pleased to hear you will be studying at UCL.
I noticed your interest in volunteering. UCL has a very active volunteering unit more detials can be found here

If you want to volunteer in the UK do make sure you apply for a full-student visa.

If you have any further question do not hesitate to get in touch.

Have a good summer

Mark
Hi Mark!

Thank you for responding - yes I am interested. My coordinator has alerted me that I will be applying for the Tier 4 visa, will that suffice?

I was just wondering if you could provide me with a few examples of what students have done in past? I would most likely prefer to join an existing volunteer program instead of organizing my own.

Thanks again!

Tanya
Hi Tanya

Many thanks for your reply. If you are appying for a Tier 4 visa you will be fine. We will be sending out an email regarding the visa application process shortly. The first thing we need to do is to check that the details we hold on you are correct - name, date of birth, passport number etc. The email will explain everything you need to do so no need to reply at this stage. The next step is for UCL to submit these details to the UK immigration office - this in turn will generate a CAS (basically a unique electronic reference number which you need to apply for a visa). As soon as the CAS has been issued we will notify you by email and you can then apply for the visa. This all sounds complicated, but it's not so no need to worry.

In terms of voluteering there is an extensive range of established and new activities to get involved with. As you will be studying at UCL for the full-year you will really be able to take full advantage of all the opportunities. The attached link takes you to a directory listing all of the current actvities

If you see activities that are of interest, please feel free to contact the Volunteering Unit now as you don't have to wait until you arrive at UCL to sign up. Normally shortly after the start of the academic year, the Voluteering Unit hold a fair to promote all of the possible activities. The fair also provides a great opportunity to meet UCL students already in the many activities.

Hope that helps. Mark :)
I'll be there for the Fall semester =)
